Do you have a 8-11 year old child who would love to try sword fencing in a safe, fun and supportive environment, backed by qualified primary teachers and sword fencing coaches with vast experience of introducing this wonderful sport to children of all ages?
Then bring your budding pirate along to our weekly sword fencing class in Monton, Gtr Manchester, where they can learn to fence using brightly coloured state of the art equipment designed specifically for children's use, such as plastic, buzzered swords and full metal, padded kit as children's skills progress.
Each session has a recreational focus and includes lots of fun games designed to get your child fencing skillfully in the shortest time possible, from basic skills including how to stand in the en guarde position and attack and defend easily, all the way up to more advanced skills such as compound attacks and the use of distance to gain advantage over an opponent.
What's more, our club motto of "Respect, Honour, Truth" ensures that children take the very best elements from the traditional sword fencing experience, from the salute at the start of every bout, all the way to the handshake at the end.
And that's not all, with a fully structured "Balestra Mini-Blade" awards scheme and twice yearly club competitions, we guarantee that your child's introduction to the sport will be a fulfilling experience that will not only benefit his/her fitness levels, self confidence, hand-eye coordination and balance, but will also provide a sense of achievement from the moment they pick up a foam sword to the time when they pull on the padded jacket to use the older kit.
